2017 COLLIDE RED WINE
Winemaker's Tasting Notes:
This wine offers aromas of volcanic proportion! Ripe black raspberries, black currants, cassis, freshly cut violets and pencil lead. Heady secondary notes of sun-baked rock, black pepper, black cardamom and sandalwood add incredible complexity.
The palate is seamless, opulent and vervey. Gobs of flavor! Chocolate covered blueberries, plum, purple field flowers, black tea and Indian spice box delight at every sip!
In 2017 northern California experienced a wet winter. The end of June into July we experienced a twenty-day heat spell that tempered and controlled the vigor of the vines producing incredibly small berried clusters and intensely flavored fruit. Despite Mother Nature's curveballs, the vines produced low yields of top quality fruit rich in color and deeply concentrated in flavor and tannin.
