2019 COOMBSVILLE
Vintage Notes:
This nearly perfect growing season started off with a wet winter and a long warm summer with very few heat events, resulting in foggy mornings and set the stage for producing vibrant, expressive wines. The finish of the season was long and relatively mild, which facilitated long hang-times and produced wines with finesse and freshness.
Winemaker's Tasting Notes:
The 2019 Coombsville Cabernet is a glass-staining inky black/purple with complexly layered aromas of roasted blackberries, ripe black cherries, dusty plums, graphite, creamy minerals, and violets. Subtle notes of suede leather, chocolate, and black cardamom add further compliment. Concentrated, sweet expressive flavors pack a powerful fruit-driven punch. The tannins are abundant but soft, turning velvety moving toward a long persistent finish. Glorious. Drink the 2019 Herold Coombsville over the next 20 years.
Reviews:
“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Brown Label (Coombsville) is a blend from Caldwell, Bennett and Caprignan. A bold, dramatic wine, the Coombsville Cabernet packs a ton of punch. Blackberry, cedar, tobacco, menthol and licorice all build in this rich, heady Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2019 is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. All it needs is a bit of time for the tannins to soften. It’s a classic Mark Herold wine build on opulence and exotic richness.” 96 PTS –Antonio Galloni
