Known for being one of the more unique vintages in recent history, the climate variability during the fall of 2022 encouraged our teams to work diligently to become as adaptable as possible to overcome the pivots Mother Nature sent our way. We were pleased with the end result: remarkable acidity and freshness that brought out the flavors and textures distinctive of each appellation. Wines from this vintage exhibit excellent structure, deep red colors, luxurious tannins and exquisite fruit-forward aromatics.
Winemaker's Tasting Notes:
The 2022 Rutherford presents a mesmerizing array of intense aromas, unveiling layers of red currants, ripe cherries, black raspberries, grilled nuts, and crushed rock. Nuances of black tea, suede leather, black cardamom, and tobacco add further complexity. On the palate, this wine is a tour de force—a seamless entry, full-bodied and richly textured, it envelops the mouth in the velvety embrace of red / black fruit, and polished tannins. A subtle minerality underpins the fruit adding a savory quality that leads to a lingering finish. The 2022 Rutherford lis a remarkable expression of its terroir, poised to evolve gracefully over the next 15 years or more.
